Religious Education

St. Mary’s Parish Religious Education Program


St. Mary’s Parish welcomes families to register for our Catholic Religious Education Program for students in Grades 1 through 9. Our program is designed to help children and young people grow in their knowledge of the Catholic faith while building a strong relationship with God and becoming active members of our parish community.


Classes are held every Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Throughout the year, students also participate in monthly community service projects, providing opportunities to put their faith into action by serving others and strengthening our parish community.



Sacramental Preparation


Our Religious Education Program includes preparation for the following sacraments:


  • Second Grade: Preparation for First Penance (Reconciliation) and First Holy Eucharist
  • Ninth Grade: Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation


Through prayer, scripture, classroom instruction, and service, students are guided in understanding the teachings of the Catholic Church and the importance of living their faith each day.



Registration Dates


Registration will be held at the St. Mary’s Parish Center on Vallone Road in Cranston on the following dates:


  • Saturday, August 8: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, August 9: 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 15: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 19: 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.


Families are encouraged to register during one of these scheduled times.



Adult Faith Formation (OCIA)


St. Mary’s Parish also offers an Adult Faith Formation (OCIA) program for adults who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or who wish to become fully initiated into the Catholic Church. The program is open to adults seeking to receive the sacraments of:



  • Baptism
  • First Holy Eucharist
  • Confirmation


Adult classes are also held on Monday evenings and provide a welcoming environment for learning, discussion, prayer, and spiritual growth.
